On May 27th, the 7th Hong Kong Legal Services Forum was held at Xi’an International Convention Center. Under the theme Serving the Belt and Road Initiative: A New Chapter in Shaanxi-Hong Kong Cooperation. Fan Jiuli, President of Northwest University of Political Science and Law (NWUPL), Lin Feng, Dean of City University of Hong Kong School of Law, Wang Jiangyu, Director of the Centre for Chinese and Comparative Law, and faculty representatives of NWUPL attended the opening ceremony.
Fan Jiuli and Lin Feng signed the Framework Agreement on Strengthening Legal Services Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative between the two universities. The two universities will strengthen collaboration in cultivating international legal talents, conducting academic research, and facilitating practical exchanges.
On May 26th, the two universities held a cooperation meeting. President Fan Jiuli attended the meeting which was chaired by Vice President Ma Zhaoqi. During the meeting, the two universities reached a consensus on promoting the rule of law development under the Belt and Road Initiative. They held in-depth discussions on topics such as talent cultivation, faculty exchange, and research collaboration. The two universities signed the Agreement on the Law Elite Program and Agreement on the Student Exchange Program.
After the meeting, Lin Feng and the delegation visited the University History Museum and attended the Symposium on Legal Education and the Cultivation of Foreign-related Legal Talents in Shaanxi and Hong Kong District organized by the School of International Law. Vice President Sun Haoliang attended the symposium and addressed the audience. Experts at the event explored innovative approaches and development strategies for cultivating international legal talents in the new era, addressing the topic from perspectives including comparative law research, judicial practice, professional competency development, and language training. On May 28th, Professor Wang Jiangyu delivered an academic lecture for School of Economic Law.
