Northwest University of Political Science and Law has established an overseas practical educational base with JEFF LEONG, POON&WONG Law Firm in Malaysia and launched an internship program.

In August 2024, NWUPL for the first time sent a group of 10 outstanding law students for overseas internships to JEFF LEONG, POON&WONG Law Firm in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Li Li, Party Secretary of School of International Law, and Chen Mengqi, Deputy Director of Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, attended the program opening ceremony in Kuala Lumpur and presented the plaque for the first overseas internship base.

During the internship, the law firm arranged a mentoring team based on students' majors and career directions. Under the guidance of professional lawyers, students participated in various legal practices such as court hearings, client meetings, due diligence, legal research, contract review, and drafting legal opinions in fields like overseas investment and corporate mergers and acquisitions. They also attended academic lectures and professional skills training organized by the firm. After returning, the students would continue a 2-month internship online by following the mentors' instructions to consolidate their internship. The implementation of the program has broadened students' international perspectives and enhanced their skills in foreign-related legal practice and inter-cultural communication. It represents a valuable exploration in the cultivation of foreign-related legal talents at NWUPL.

JEFF LEONG, POON&WONG Law Firm, established in 1999, is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
