In June 2008, Northwestern University of Political Science and Law established a department-level administrative organization -- alumni work office, and the alumni work of the university entered the stage of rapid development.
In 2009, Northwestern University of Political Science and Law held the first alumni congress, and officially established the Northwestern University of Political Science and Law Alumni Association. The university held the second and third alumni Congress in 2013 and 2017. The current president of the alumni association is the university president, Professor Yang Zongko.
The alumni association of Northwestern University of Political Science and Law has established a secretariat in the university which is responsible for daily affairs. The secretariat consists of the secretary-general, the under-secretary-general and the office director of the alumni association. The alumni association secretariat and the alumni work office operate in combination in the same office.
After nearly a decade of development, the institution and organization of alumni associations have been constantly standardized and perfected, and 40 local alumni associations were established in 28 different provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions nationwide.
